Some beard care tips.
Have you ever reached into your favourite beard balm and noticed that it feels bumpy and gritty? And, when you look inside, you will find out that its texture has changed. What a bummer!
Yes, it might not have the ideal texture and appearance, but that doesn’t mean it’s gone bad. Even if your beard balm is slightly grainy, you can still use it, and the product’s performance should not be affected.
Beard care tips – Natural beard balms are great for both your skin and your facial hair. However, they can be really sensitive to temperature. When it gets warm, the fats in the butter will melt and liquefy at different temperatures, causing your balm to “sweat.” When the temperature cools again, these droplets will re-harden, causing crystals to form on the surface of your balm.
One of the causes of a grainy balm is summer shipping. During the warmer months, the product may heat up while in transit or while sitting in a mailbox, then cool down again when brought into the home. When that happens, the balm may develop a slightly grainy and gritty feeling.
Moreover, the place where you keep your beard products can also be the culprit. I’m talking about hot bathrooms.
However, I want to emphasize that there’s nothing wrong with the balm. What’s happening is completely normal for products that contain shea butter or other plant butter – although it might be a bit annoying.
More beard care tips -Fixing gritty beard balms
If you’re using butter or oil-based balms, then it might be possible to press the “reset” button and make it like new again. All you might need to do is melt it, pour it into a container, and flash cool it in your fridge.
But if your beard balm contains glycerine or water, you might want to throw it away. Products with water-based ingredients can’t return to their original state even after reheating and cooling. If this kind of balm goes gritty, then it might have gone bad and should be tossed.
Additional beard care tips – Now, here’s a quick and easy fix for your beard balm:
Step #1: Using a small spoon or rubber spatula, scoop out the grainy balm and transfer it to a clean, microwaveable dish. Keep the original container, as you will use it later.
Step #2: Microwave for 10-15 seconds and stir. Repeat this process until the balm is fully melted. Never overheat your beard balm, as it can ruin the butter and the scent in it.
Step #3: Let the melted balm sit for 2 minutes so it can slightly cool before you put it back in its original container. You don’t want to damage your balm’s container by pouring hot butter into it, right?
Step #4: Place the original container on a tray or small dish before refilling it. This way, you can avoid spills. Don’t put the lid on yet, as doing so might trap moisture. Let the product breathe during the cooling process.
Step #5: Keep it in the fridge for at least 2 hours. The bigger your container is, the longer it should stay inside. It can help your beard balm solidify fast and make sure that all those crystals are gone. Once it’s ready, you can put back the lid and enjoy using it on your amazing beard. It includes what they do, how long they’ve been at it, and what got them to where they are.

WHAT REALLY PROMOTES HEALTHIER BEARD GROWTH?
Note we said healthier, not heavier or faster.
Genetics. You have as many hair follicles on your face as you’re ever going to get. That’s genetic. You inherited your beard growth patterns from family members before you. No beard growth oil will change that.
o Testosterone. Natural testosterone in your body. Again, that comes down to genetics, plus age, along with some lifestyle and health factors.
o Good lifestyle. Eat well, sleep well, exercise regularly, get fresh air, drink water, take vitamins, etc. A healthier body produces healthier hairs. If you don’t believe that, look how lank, drab and “weak” hair looks on a sick/unhealthy person.
o Good beard grooming. Use only the best products available, free of chemicals. Facial hairs and skin that are under-nourished, dry or irritated will not grow and work optimally.
o Cleanse regularly with a natural beard wash.
o Apply a natural beard oil daily.
o Brush your beard more than once a day to spread beard oil’s nourishment and gently remove flakes, dirt and bacteria that can inflame pores and follicles.
o Use a beard balm or butter for extra style control and leave-in conditioning for hairs.
Always consult with a dermatologist or healthcare professional before using any new product, especially if you have sensitive skin or existing skin conditions.
There is no guaranteed way to speed up beard growth. What is understood is that it is mainly genetics, patience and clean & healthy living for those of us who struggle with growing the perfect beard. Care for your beard naturally, and time along with genetics and regular exercise will take care of the rest.

Generally, an oil is used for hydrating and softening the beard. This is usually used as a daily maintenance routine for overall beard and skin health.
A balm is normally used when one wants to style or shape the beard.
Apply a balm in its melted state by rubbing a small amount between the hands, then brushing and shaping the beard. When the balm sets due to the beeswax content cooling, the beard will generally hold its shape.
Medium and heavy-hold balms are available.
