Essential Oils & Butters

Virgin refined (certified organic) Shea Butter.
Our Virgin Unrefined African Shea Butter is extracted from the Shea nut and left completely unrefined. Because of the lack of refinement, Bulk African Shea Butter has a pale yellowish colour and has the typical odour normally associated with Shea Butter. This shea butter comes from Burkina Faso, Africa, and is certified organic.

Shea Butter Benefits

Pure Shea Butter first became popular in Africa where it is widely used in cooking and medicinal purposes. Eventually it made its way to the west as more people discovered its amazing emollient qualities. Shea Butter has a high level of non-saponifiables and other qualities that makes it a popular ingredient in many cosmetic supplies, lotions, and other skin care products.

Shea Butter can improve skin elasticity, which has made it popular with both men and women. Today it is used as an essential ingredient for belly butters and stretch mark creams.

More than that, though, Shea Butter can also block the sun’s ultraviolet rays, so you will often find it as a major ingredient in sun block products, lip balms, and lip gloss. It can also be used as an anti-inflammatory and humectants which makes it very useful in medicinal ointments and creams.

Refined Shea Butter – Our bulk refined Shea Butter is most often used for cosmetics and soaps. The process to refine the butter involves extracting it from the Shea nut and filtering out any of the impurities. This results in a creamy off-white color and an extremely pure product. There is also less of an odor, which is why refined butter is the normal choice for the soap making and personal care industry.

Mango Butter

Mango Butter has a melt point ranging from 86F-98.6F making it solid at room temperature. Mango Butter is commonly used in the cosmetic industry because of it's high oxidative stability. The unique properties of Bulk Mango Butter along with the butters high level of non-saponifiables make it a very effective emollient. Mango Butter is a great additive for products that target dry, damaged, and aging skin.

Cocoa Butter

Our Natural Deodorized Cocoa Butter is extracted from the cocoa bean, refined, deodorized and left in it's natural color.  This version is higher in natural anti-oxidents than the white refined because it does not go through the bleaching process.  Because of the deodorization, it does not have the strong natural odor that natural cocoa butter is known for.  This is great for soap making and personal care products where odor is an issue.

Vitamin E Oil

Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate)
Known for its ability to reduce inflammation, Vitamin E oil is an excellent moisturizing ingredient for any product. Its nourishing, antioxidant rich, and skin-brightening qualities make it ideal for serums, body scrubs and oils, moisturizers, butters, and more. It blends very easily with fragrance oils, essential oils, butters, and other oils, as well.

Glycerin

Glycerin is great for the skin because it acts as a humectant, which is a substance that allows the skin to retain moisture. It can increase skin hydration, relieve dryness, and refresh the skin’s surface.

It’s also an emollient, which means it can soften skin. This is great if eczema or psoriasis leave you with rough or dry patches.

Glycerin also has antimicrobial properties, which means it can protect the skin from harmful microorganisms.

Many supporters believe it can also repair skin and speed the wound-healing process.

Witch Hazel

In manufacturing, witch hazel leaf extract, bark extract, and witch hazel water are used as astringents to tighten the skin. They are also included in some medications to give those products the ability to slow down or stop bleeding. Those medications are used for treating insect bites, stings, itching, irritations, and minor pain.

How does it work ?
Witch hazel contains chemicals called tannins. When applied directly to the skin, witch hazel might help reduce swelling, help repair broken skin, and fight bacteria.

Stearic Acid

Our Stearic Acid is triple pressed palm stearic acid. This product is cosmetic grade. Stearic Acid is commonly used to emulsify lotions made from scratch as well as thicken lip balm recipes. It can also be used in candle manufacturing to raise the melt point and improve the hardness of candle wax along with countless other applications.

Sodium Hydroxide

Soap Making - Fats and oils, by themselves, do not mix with water. Sodium hydroxide lye breaks up the triglyceride in fats and oils and turns the fatty acids into sodium salts. The salts reduce the surface tension in liquids and allow grease to be easily washed away with water. Try making a pure soap with no perfume, fragrances, dyes or additives that can irritate your skin. Using a pure soap with only the glycerin can cleanse and improve your skin condition – no matter what that condition is. Pure lye soap will sooth insect bites and actually repel insects with its residue. Try shaving your lye soap and using it as a laundry detergent, or rub a bar directly on a problem stain. Lye soap has been found to be as effective as commercial products on the market.

Potassium Hydroxide

Use & Benefits:
Potassium hydroxide is used to control and establish the pH of cosmetic products. The pH of the skin is slightly acidic, known as the acidic mantle. It is maintained by the sebaceous glands, sweat glands, and natural flora of the skin. This protects the skin from external factors like microbes, irritants, and exposure to harmful rays. It helps in reducing premature aging and irritation of the skin. It is important to maintain the normal pH balance of the skin in order to prevent detrimental effects on the skin. Since too acidic pH can irritate the skin and harms the skin, while too basic pH can cause depletion of vital lipids from the skin. pH adjusters or buffers maintain this pH balance of the product and avoids skin’s pH to shift too far from the normal range. It is also used in the saponification of oils which is quite an important step in making bath soaps or washes. It is used in formulations of bath products, cleansing agents, make-up products, shaving products, and other personal care products.

Magnesium

We use magnesium as one of our active ingredients in our hand and foot rescue balm. It restores moisture to your skin and in combination with our other natural ingredients creates an outstanding skin care product.

Magnesium's benefits for your skin are as extensive as the benefits for your health. "Magnesium helps improve your skin's overall appearance, reducing acne and other skin disorders by lowering cortisol levels, stabilizing hormonal imbalances, and improving cellular processes.
